Topic title: Manufacturing flexible fiber-optic chemical sensors for disease dynamic monitoring

Abstract:

Flexible fiber-optic chemical sensors that can selectively reflect biochemical marker levels in biological tissues have been widely used in biomedical applications. However, absorption, scattering, reflection, and transmission will occur during light transmission within biological tissues, thus significantly reducing light transmission efficiency and depth. Therefore, improving the light transmission efficiency in biological tissues is an important step for optical sensing in deep biological tissues. Fiber-optic sensing technology can enhance the light transmission efficiency in deep tissues based on the principle of total internal reflection. Considering the poor matching between traditional optical fiber materials and flexible biological tissues, we have manufactured flexible optical chemical fiber sensors for the dynamic monitoring of biomarkers in biological tissues. To improve the accuracy of diagnosis, we have further manufactured multiplexed fiber-optic chemical sensors to dynamically monitor multiple physiological and biomarkers in the brain, providing an important research basis for intraoperative and postoperative monitoring of patients with traumatic brain injury.
