Human Organoids: From Construction to Disease-Oriented Applications

Professor Ling Leng’s research expertise is in the regulation of stem cell fate by extracellular matrix，as well as construction of complex organoids (such as skin, brain, heart, blood vessels, etc.) and their applications in disease mechanisms, tissue repair, and drug development, forming a series of independently innovated core technologies and products with independent intellectual property rights.

Leng Ling, Female, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. She serves as an Independent Principal Investigator (PI) of the National Major Science and Technology Infrastructure for Translational Medicine, a tenuredtrack Independent PI at the State Key Laboratory of Complex Severe and Rare Diseases, and holds an adjunct quasisenior faculty appointment at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. She is a recipient of the Zhongguancun Outstanding Young Investigator Award and a national highlevel talent.

Her long-standing research focuses on the construction of complex organoids and their applications in tissue repair and drug development. She has published numerous research articles as the sole or senior corresponding author in journals of the Nature and Cell series. As the first inventor, she was honored with the Gold Medal at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, the Beijing Science and Technology Award, the Invention and Entrepreneurship Figure Award from the China Association of Inventions, and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award.

Her research has been supported by grants including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Key Research and Development Program of China, Beijing Science and Technology Program, Key R&D Special Project of the Central Military Commission, Leading Talent Program of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and the Key Clinical Research Project of Central Highlevel Hospitals.
